Maidel is a Dominican-American political and external affairs strategist in New York City. She has built her career working in politics, presidential campaigns, and local government. Working on the Clinton-Kaine presidential campaign, in the NYC Mayor’s Office and in NYC’s public health care system, she has developed a deep understanding of all levels of government. In 2019 she was recognized for her work, being named a 40 under 40 Rising Star in NYC politics by City & State New York, and in 2022 was again recognized in City & State’s Nonprofit 40 under 40 list.
Her core belief is very simple -- everyone deserves to live the happiest versions of their lives. At an early age, she quickly learned that can only be a possible when basic needs are met, like access to affordable housing and health care. This is why she has dedicated her career to public service. She fights like hell everyday for New Yorkers, doing her part to contribute to the larger good.
She believes everyday people hold a tremendous amount of civic power in their hands, and education is the first step to taking ownership of it.
Her hope is that through this blog you will find the tools you need to educate yourself and others on local politics, and that by way of this, even just one person will feel strong enough to lean into their power.
