In 2016, Maidel worked on the Clinton-Kaine presidential campaign doing advance and field work. In October that year, she was asked to speak in Broward County, the most important county in one of the most important battleground states, just 14 days before the election.

The task was to inspire rally-goers to volunteer for the last 2 weeks before the election. There were over 5,000 people present, and the speech was broadcast nationally. Press play!

 
 

2022 Nonprofit 40 Under 40

For the past 4 years, City & State, in partnership with its sister publication, New York Nonprofit Media, has recognized a group of young, diverse leaders in the nonprofit world who are making a difference in New York.

In 2022, Maidel De La Cruz was recognized in this cohort of outstanding professionals in the non-profit/public sector.

NYC 40 Under 40 Rising Stars

Each year, City & State honors 40 talented individuals under the age of 40 who work in New York City government, politics, and advocacy.

Maidel De La Cruz was recognized in the 2019 class of New York City 40 Under 40 Rising Stars.

Leading up to the 2020 presidential election, Maidel was asked to speak to a group of young women in her hometown about the importance of voting. She shared the history of voting in America and the inequities that made it hard for women and people of color to vote.

Her talk encouraged them to honor their voting rights that their ancestors fought so hard for, and to encourage others to do the same. Press play to hear a *snippet* !
