What is a Telfar Bag and How Do You Get One?

I have been trying to get my hands on a Telfar bag for a year, and I finally did it!

Telfar is a luxury, unisex fashion line that was started by Telfar Clemens – a queer, self-taught Black designer from Queens, New York. You’ve probably seen a lot of buzz around Telfar bags over the last two years. That’s because this fashion line is genderless, pushing the pendulum of fashion forward. It represents inclusivity, and everything they do is in keeping with their slogan – “Not for you, for everyone”. 

They’re also made from 100% vegan leather, and the price point is ~sweeeeet. It’s actually received the nickname “Bushwick Birkin” because of its popularity in Brooklyn (fun fact: my first NYC apartment was in Bushwick). 

So, how can you get one?

It used to be the case that you would have to stay alert to their Instagram for announcements on a drop, but recently Telfar launched Telfar TV. Telfar TV is the single hub for all Telfar drops. QR codes are randomly broadcasted on Telfar TV for you to scan and ensure that you’re able to purchase a bag. By using a QR code, Telfar is actually preventing bots from snagging the limited inventory, and making sure it ends up in your hands. How creative is that?!
