Dallas: BBQ

Howdy!
My trip to Dallas was filled with a lot of cowboy hats and football, but I couldn’t leave without trying some of their renowned barbeque. There were plenty of options to choose from, but ultimately I decided on Pecan Lodge located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. It is home to Dallas’ most award-winning BBQ, so you know I had to make my way over.
(sb: I do not eat pork - so you will not be reading about any pork on this post).

Ok, so let’s dive in.

The aesthetic of the place is everything you would expect of a midwestern BBQ joint. It’s rustic, laid back and very casual. There are no servers; it’s all self-seating. You order at the counter, and you can always expect there to be a line. No worries though! It goes by very quickly and it’s well worth the wait.

I ordered:

  • Mac & cheese (comes with bacon bits on top which I removed)

  • Coleslaw

  • Collard greens

  • Fried chicken

  • Brisket

Chileeeeee, let me tell you. That brisket was everything! I mean everything I ordered was absolutely out of this world. The chicken was crunchy on the outside, but so juicy and soft in the middle. The three sides were *chef’s kiss*, but babyyyy! That brisket was worth every last bite, calorie and penny.

To end the meal I had the peach cobbler, which after one bite I quickly dubbed the “SLAP COBBLER” because that thing slapped! It is *THE* definition of don’t judge a book by it’s cover. What I tasted with that first bite was not at all what I expected. Top 3 peach cobblers I’ve ever had, hands down.

The only area where this place let me down was that there was no cornbread. I really wanted some cornbread y’all! Bummer. However, they do give you a sweet roll with your order, so if you’re happy with that, then you have nothing to worry about here.

They also have a bar inside if you want to have a beer with your BBQ.

8/10 would recommend you eat at Pecan Lodge if you’re planning a trip to Dallas!
